Newport – Visit the principal town of the Isle of Wight which is located in the centre and often referred to as its capital. The historic town centres on two elegant squares with Georgian & Victorian architecture surrounding them and the towns Quay just a short walk away.
Ryde & The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary - The largest town on the island, Ryde has an array of shopping streets and great attractions. Ryde also has an award-winning beach which at low tide, opens up to be the largest stretch of golden sands on the Isle of Wight. Quarr Abbey is a popular attraction for visitors to Ryde, the abbey is a fully functioning monastery and is set within grounds worth exploring (admission not included). Today, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit The Donkey Sanctuary, a forever home to 97 donkeys and 26 ponies. Set in 55 acres of countryside, all of whom are either abandoned or rescued. Over 50 volunteers support the staff at the sanctuary, to ensure the donkeys ‘want for nothing’. This is a popular visitor attraction, where you will be able to meet and interact with these beautiful, gentle creatures.
